Location and surroundings

Le Grand Bornand

The traditional ski village of Le Grand Bornand is situated at the foot of the Mont Lachat. Le Grand Bornand is a peaceful and atmospheric ski village with a traditional village centre where stables and wooden farm houses stand as a pleasant contrast to the modern accommodations in the area.

the village is subdivided over two levels: Le Grand Bornand Village (1000 m) and Le Chinaillon (1300 m). This is not the place for high rise construction. Instead, quaint wooden chalets dominate the landscape.

For snowboarders there is a halfpipe and a boardercross. Cross country skiers can enjoy approximately 55 kilometers of diverse cross country skiing tracks. There are plenty of options for hikers in the area as well.

After skiing or snowboarding you can relax in one the lovely restaurants, have a drink in a bar or try your luck at ice skating or sleighing.

The modern ski village of La Clusaz is located approximately 6 kilometers down the road from the village of Grand Bornand Village.
You could venture onto the pistes from here as well for a change.

Massif des Aravis

Massif des Aravis is a ski area in the Northern Alps and due to its harsh winters, there is always excellent snow cover. With approximately 220 km (137 ml) of predominantly blue and red pistes, this resort has a great snow record. The ski resorts of Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz offer very diverse descents from 2600 (8,500 ft) to 1000 meters (3,300 ft) in altitude. The two longest descents are the red descent of La Combe de L'Etale to La Clusaz of approximately 10 km (6 ml) and the red and black descent of Envers to Le Grand Bornand.

Snowboarders can get their adrenaline racing on the mugel pistes, in the snow park of L’Étale mountain range and on the free ride piste on the Balme mountain range.

For the cross country skiers there is a diverse range of 74 km of cross country skiing tracks. There is even a cross country skiing track between the villages of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand so that you can make your route even longer. Massif des Aravis is an ideal ski area for both beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders.
