Åre is perhaps the most famous ski village in Sweden, and for good reason. All the ingredients for an unforgettable ski holiday are present here: from excellent restaurants, to lively après-ski and, of course, a diverse ski area. What makes this destination extra special is the long ski season. This is due to the northern location of the village. As a result, you are guaranteed snow from November to May. It also stays light outside for longer, later in the year.
On the slopes
With over 55 miles of slopes, Åre has the largest ski area in all of Scandinavia. The area is divided into two zones: high and low. In the low zone there are a large number of red and black runs, known for hosting the Alpine World Cup. In the high zone, there are more blue and green runs; you can reach this by cable car or gondola lift. Because this ski area offers so much variety, it is accessible for beginners, but also still challenging for advanced ski enthusiasts.
Après-ski in Åre
It’s not just the slopes that are diverse. Even when the ski boots come off, you will be spoilt for choice. From a simple hot dog, to a first-rate dinner; Åre is a real culinary hotspot. Do you still have some energy left after a day on the slopes? Then dive into the vibrant nightlife; you won't regret it!
