Skiing in Sälen

General information

Fun in the Snow

In western Sweden, close to the Norwegian border, lies the cosy ski village of Sälen. It’s an ideal winter destination for the whole family, thanks to the spectacular Swedish nature and the varied range of slopes and activities available. The Scandinavian climate makes for a long, cold winter. As a result, you are assured of a good layer of snow, from December until March. You can enjoy endless hours of skiing and snowboarding on the slopes. Want some variety? Then swap your skis for a snowmobile and tear through the white gold at lightning speed. Or, take a romantic dogsled ride through the fairy-tale winter landscape. Which unforgettable trip will you choose?

A suitable slope for everyone

The Skistar Sälen area consists of no fewer than four ski areas: Lindvallen, Hundfjället, Tandådalen and Högfjället. Together, they include over 50 miles of slopes. Ski buses run between these four areas, allowing you to explore a different area each day if you wish. Lindvallen and Högfjället are connected, so you won't even have to take a bus for those. There is a wide selection of black, green, blue, and red runs to choose from. Every snow-lover will find what they are looking for there, even the littlest ones, since there are special children's zones where they can learn to ski or snowboard, under professional supervision. The kids are also taken care of indoors, with games and other fun activities available. In the meantime, the rest of the family can rack up some miles on the slopes!

Plenty to do, outside & inside

There is also plenty to do off of the slopes in Sälen. Discover the wide choice of indoor activities at Experium in Lindvallen. A water park, cinema, and bowling alley are all included. The exciting 'Troll Forest', and the largest children's area in Europe, are also recommended for the whole family. Anyone looking for a child-friendly ski destination is in the perfect place. Of course, there is also a spa where you can warm up after skiing, in a hot sauna or steam bath. Make your spa visit extra relaxing, by opting for one of the several treatments available. After all that skiing, your muscles have earned it, right? You can end the day in style, in one of the many fantastic restaurants. In Sälen you will find no fewer than fifty to choose from! Where are you headed today?
