The village has a lively centre with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and a nightclub.

Two cabin lifts and a chair lift depart from the centre of Valloire and provide access to other pistes in the area. Besides a diversity of pistes there is also a snow park with a half pipe for snowboarders. There are also various activities you can sign up for like husky sleigh riding and snow shoe hiking.

Galibier Thabor

Together with Valmeinier, Valloire in the French Savoie forms the largest ski area in the Haute Maurienne, the Galibier Thabor. More than three quarters of the 150 km (93 ml) of pistes are located at Valloire and this is the place to be for the real ski and snowboard fanatics. The 150 km (93 ml) of pistes are suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers and snowboarders. Since this is a relatively new resort, it is also equipped with a modern ski lift system. The resort of Valmeinier is connected to the resort of Valloire by cable car. From Valmeinier 1800 you can make great tours via Valmeinier 1500 to Les Verneys and Valloire and, of course, in the other direction too.

Together, Valloire and Valmeinier have 40 km (25 ml) of cross country skiing tracks ranging in difficulty and snowboarders can test their skills in the snow park which also includes a half pipe.

A tip: in the village of Orelle, approximately 25 minutes drive from Valmeinier, you can catch the ski lift to Val Thorens, which is part of the biggest interconnected ski area of Les Trois Vallées. If you want to ski or snowboard here for the day you need to pay approximately € 40,- on location.

Lift pass, lessons and material

In step 2 of the booking process it is indicated for which days the lift pass is valid. If you want to use the ski lift on a different day than indicated in step 2 of the booking process, please contact our contact centre by telephone. It is not possible to change the days of the lift pass once you have arrived at the destination. If you wish to extend the lift pass, it can often be booked as an extra. The price for extending the lift pass can be found in step 2 of the booking. If you choose “no lift pass”, the discount can also be found in step 2 of the booking process.

Discounts:

The lift pass for children up to age 4 and senior citizens from 75 years is free. If you are entitled to the free lift pass, you can choose the option 'no lift pass' when booking. You can pick up this lift pass at the resort on presentation of your ID.

The above fees and discounts are valid only when booking with Sunweb. Other rates are used at the resort.

Important note: You will need to bring a (passport-sized) photograph with you when you collect your lift pass.

You can select ski and snowboard directly upon booking. With short-stay holidays it is not possible to book ski lessons. You can arrange ski lessons at the resort.

Ski and snow board lessons start on Sunday.

When booking ski lessons, you will be asked to specify your level of experience:

Beginners:

Only choose beginners lessons if you have never skied before.

Intermediate:

If you are able to break and make turns, choose this level.

Advanced:

If you are able to ski but you would like to improve your technique, please choose this level.

If there are not enough applicants for the group ski lessons, then the ski school may choose to change the days and times of the lessons. A group lesson can therefore be changed by them to a private lesson at no extra costs.

Ski and snowboard rental can be specified immediately upon booking.

When you book Gold or Diamond ski equipment you can exchange it once a week for free, for snowboard equipment or freeride skis (unavailable on weekends).

The following materials can be booked:

Bronze

This material is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. This material is particularly agile, so it makes turning and breaking easy. Parallel skiing is also possible with these skis.

Silver

Gold

These skis and snowboards are made of high quality material, and are perfect for experienced skiers. This comfortable material is suitable on all track types and snow conditions.
