Flachau

From the centrally located Flachau, winter sports are a treat for everyone

Nestled in the heart of the Salzburger Sportwelt ski area lies the charming village of Flachau, Austria. Flachau alone offers over 100 kilometers of diverse slopes, and with the arrival of the impressive G-Link gondola, it’s easier than ever to travel between Flachau, Wagrain, and nearby villages such as St. Johann-Alpendorf, Kleinarl, Eben, Radstadt, Filzmoos, and Altenmarkt-Zauchensee. Together, these villages form the Salzburger Sportwelt ski area, boasting more than 350 kilometers of slopes and countless ski lifts. The G-Link gondola, which seats up to 130 people, gets you across in no time. Once there, you can enjoy fantastic runs on the wide, well-groomed slopes Austria is famous for. Choose from an abundance of red and blue runs, or tackle one of the many challenging black slopes if you’re an experienced skier. Don’t forget to stop at one of the cozy mountain huts along the way for a hearty lunch or a cup of hot chocolate. Flachau ski resort is one of Austria’s most popular winter destinations, known for its reliable snow conditions, modern lift system, and lively après-ski scene. Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or simply soaking up the alpine atmosphere, Flachau has it all.

Child-friendly, typically Austrian or luxurious during your winter sports holiday in Flachau

In the expansive Flachau region, you'll find 13 lifts, including a gondola, six chairlifts, and six drag lifts — so you can quickly reach the top of the mountain straight from your hotel, apartment, or chalet. Snowboarders, take note: two fun parks await where you can practice and perfect your skills. Discover the internationally renowned Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl or the Snowpark in Alpendorf. For those who prefer cross-country skiing, Salzburger Sportwelt offers 40 groomed trails spanning an impressive 260 kilometers. Don’t forget your camera — the wintry landscape, lined with pine trees and wide paths, is truly breathtaking. With so much variety, Flachau is a ski resort for everyone. Whether you’re traveling with your family, a group of friends, or your partner for a romantic week in the snow, you’ll find a wide selection of comfortable hotels to choose from. Prefer a little more privacy? Opt for a cozy apartment instead. Thanks to its wide slopes and excellent facilities, Flachau is ideal for both beginners and advanced skiers. It’s also a child-friendly destination, with plenty of ski schools and practice slopes.

And when you book with Sunweb, your ski pass is always included — so all that’s left to decide is: which accommodation will be your favorite?

Expand your skiing fun in Flachau: discover Ski Amadé

Flachau is part of the expansive Salzburger Ski Amadé ski area — one of the largest interconnected ski regions in Europe. This impressive network includes 25 ski resorts across five different areas, including the well-known Salzburger Sportwelt, as well as Hochkönig, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, and Grossarltal. In addition to the G-Link gondola connecting Flachau with Wagrain, the Panorama Link makes it easy to reach Flachauwinkl and Zauchensee. This means Wagrain is perfect for a fun day trip on your ski holiday. Best of all, you can access the entire Ski Amadé region — including Flachau — with just one ski pass, giving you endless opportunities to explore new slopes each day. Thanks to the Dachstein Glacier, you can often ski well into April, and when natural snowfall is limited, snow cannons ensure great conditions throughout the season. Flachau is also known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, both on the mountain and in the village. After a day on the slopes, the après-ski scene comes alive at the famous Hofstadl at the bottom of the valley run — a must-visit spot for anyone who loves a lively evening.

With optimal snow depth for most of the season and modern lifts that keep waiting times to a minimum, Flachau promises a seamless and unforgettable ski experience!

Salzburger Sportwelt - Ski Amadé

The ski areas of Flachau, Wagrain, St. Johann–Alpendorf, Radstadt, Altenmarkt–Zauchensee, Kleinarl, Eben and Filzmoos combine to form the ski resort Salzburger Sportwelt. 350 km (217 ml) of pistes and more than 90 lifts make this area the ideal option for skiers and boarders who enjoy longer ski tours.

Easy and intermediate pistes means that both novices and semi advanced skiers and boarders can enjoy the entire area. In addition there are also a few more difficult black runs, mainly in Zauchensee (to be reached via Flachauwinkl). Filzmoos is not directly connected to the other resorts. In Filzmoos you will find 8 lifts and 13 km (8 ml) of varied pistes. Salzburger Sportwelt offers the cross country skier approximately 220 km (137 ml) of cross country tracks.

With the ‘Ski Amadé’ lift pass you can also ski in the resorts of Schladming-Dachstein, Grossarltal, Hochkönig and Gastein. These resorts are not connected with each other but can be reached by public or private transport. Ski Amadé has 860 km (534 ml) of well kept pistes and 270 modern cable cars. More than enough to keep you busy!
