The village of Kappl is located at an altitude of 1200 meters on the sunny side of the Paznauntal. The name Kappl is derived from the Latin name "Ad Cappellum", directed at the many chapels in the valley. Kappl is known as a peaceful village with a friendly atmosphere and consists of different neighbourhoods built up against the mountain slope. The cabin lift to the Dias ski resort is located in the valley along the road to Ischgl. Kappl also has its own ski resort with 40 kilometers of pistes. Hikers can follow the luge path up to the mountain restaurant of Dias at an altitude of 1830 meters.
A fun and alternative descent can be made in the evening on a sleigh down the 6 kilometer long flood-lit sleigh track. The famous ski resort of Ischgl is located a mere 10 kilometers down the road from Kappl. A ski bus service runs between the two villages (approx. € 1,- return). The après-ski in Kappl is relatively low key. The real après-ski fanatics can of course head to Ischgl. There, stamina permitting, you can party all through the night. For a fun day trip you can spend an afternoon shopping in Landeck or in the tax free zone of Samnaun.
