Skiing in Val Gardena

About Val Gardena

Val Gardena

Val Gardena is located in the heart of the impressive Dolomites and is one of the best-known and most versatile ski areas in Italy. As part of Dolomiti Superski, one ski pass gives you access to an extensive network of up to 1,200 kilometres of slopes — ideal for those who love variety and endless skiing opportunities.

The highlight of the region is the famous Sella Ronda: a spectacular ski circuit of around 40 kilometres that takes you through several ski areas in approximately 5 to 6 hours. From Val Gardena, you can easily follow this route towards Val di Fassa and Arabba–Marmolada, among others. A unique experience that every winter sports enthusiast should try at least once.

Val Gardena itself consists of three charming villages: Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva (Wolkenstein). Here, you’ll experience a unique blend of Italian hospitality and South Tyrolean tradition. With around 175 kilometres of slopes, the area offers plenty of choice for every level, from beginners to advanced skiers.  Modern lifts and convenient connections make it easy to get around, and you can quickly reach the sunny slopes of nearby Seiser Alm for a more relaxed ski day.

There is also plenty to enjoy off the slopes. Cross-country skiers can take advantage of numerous trails, while those looking for a lively atmosphere can enjoy the après-ski scene in the villages. Selva, Santa Cristina and Ortisei in particular offer a great mix of cosy bars and vibrant spots to end the day.

Val Gardena is also a destination for food lovers. In its many restaurants and mountain huts, you’ll discover a delicious combination of South Tyrolean specialities and Italian cuisine, often paired with excellent local wines. This makes your winter sports holiday not only active, but also a true culinary experience.
