La Norma

La Norma is a child friendly village with a great atmosphere situated in a forested area at an altitude of approximately 1350 meters in the Savoy. The village has a breathtaking view over the Vanoise mountain range and the high valley of the Arc river.

La Norma is a car free village and has a lively shopping centre with various restaurants and bars. There is a steady snow record thanks to the high altitude location and snow canons provide continual cover on the lower pistes. When the conditions are right you can even ski down to your apartment door step!

There is a fun park with a half pipe and several jumps for snowboarders. There are also different daily activities like moonlight skiing, torch tours, huskie tours and snow football!

La Norma

The ski area of La Norma has approximately 65 km (40 ml) of varied pistes suitable for novices as well as experts! The more advanced skiers and boarders can head for the Mezelet descent or the black piste La Norma II. The Repose descent is suitable for all, and the permanent slalom track offers some extra excitement for the more competitive skier and boarders!

The resort of La Norma is for the most part situated in forests, beneath the tree line and has a great snow record as the pistes are located on the northern slopes. The resort is also equipped with snow cannons.

La Norma has plenty of facilities for children and the destination is ideally suited for families. Snowboarders can have fun in the snow park with a half pipe and free ride zone. If you feel like racing your friends and family why not try the boarder cross? There is also a free ride zone at the Pracarra piste.

With a 6 or 7-day lift pass for La Norma you can also ski for one day free in Valfréjus or Aussois. For a fee of approximately € 10,- you can also ski one day in one of the other 23 ski resorts in the Maurienne valley. Every Tuesday the ski bus departs for Valfréjus.

In addition, skiing in Val Thorens or the entire Trois Vallées ski area is an option as well. On Thursdays a ski bus departs for the village of Orelle located 15 km (9 ml) down the road. The bus journey costs approximately € 5,- and in Orelle you can buy day pass (Val Thorens approx. € 15,-, Les Trois Vallées approx. € 21,-) and take the cabin lift to this large ski resort with a reputation for having plenty of snow!

Service charge (tip) in restaurants and bars :

It is not likely that the service charger will be added to the bill automatically. If you are pleased with the service you can round off or leave a tip of 10%.

The voltage is 220 and the socket is different compared to the general UK sockets. You can buy an European adapter in most airports and supermarkets.

Mobile:

A UK mobile phone should work in France. The setup for this may differ per provider, so it is best to inquire about this before hand.

Safety on the slopes:

In France, wearing a helmet is not mandatory but recommended (especially for children). In ski classes (for all ages), it is often compulsory.

Travel documents:

You must be in possession of a valid passport in order to travel to France.

Food and Drinks:

Cheese, croissants, baguettes and wine! It is possible to drink tap water.

Opening hours:

As a general rule, the shops are open on Monday/Friday from 09:00 to 19:00. However, some shops may close over lunchtime. On Sunday and Monday, a selection of shops are closed. Some supermarkets are open on Sunday mornings.

Travelling by car:
Most motorways in France require you to pay a toll fee. The Pas Piccolo San Bernardo is closed the whole winter (November - June). Always check the locat weather reports before departing.

In some cities and towns it is obligaroty to have a "environmentsl sticker". It is not possible to buy these stickers en route. You will have to order them online before you leave home. French authorities advise you to print out the form and the confirmation of the sticker if it does not arrive at your home in time. You can find the form on:

Lift pass, lessons and ski/board hire

A lift pass for Valfréjus & La Norma is included in the travel sum. With a 6-day to 8-day trip, this lift pass also allows you to ski for 1 day in one of the following areas: Aussois, Val Cenis, Bessans or Bonnval sur Arc.

Own transport:

3-day trip including 2-day lift pass

4-day trip including 2-day lift pass

5-day trip including 3-day lift pass

6-day trip including 4-day lift pass

7-day trip including 5-day lift pass

8-day trip including 6-day lift pass

Discounts:

The lift pass for children aged under 4 and seniors over the age of 75 is free. For children aged between 5-11 and seniors aged 65-74 there is a discount. This discount will be automatically added in the calculation of the package. If you are entitled to a free pass, select ‘no ski pass’ when making your booking. You can pick up your free ski pass locally by showing your ID.

Deposit:

A deposit of 1EURO is required for the lift pass.

Lift pass extras:

With a lift pass of 6, 7 or 8 days, you can also ski 1 day in Aussois, 1 day in La Norma, 1 day in Bonneval Sur Arc, 1 day in Bessans and 1 day in Valfréjus, within the validity of your lift pass. These areas are not connected to each other, but can be reached with the ski bus. The ski bus to these destinations is included in the lift pass.

This material is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. This material is particularly agile, so it makes turning and breaking easy. Parallel skiing is also possible with these skis.

This is ideal material for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The material is agile, but also suitable to cut corners sharp. Even at high speeds these skis provide great performance.

Gold

These skis and snowboards are made of high quality material, and are perfect for experienced skiers. This comfortable material is suitable on all track types and snow conditions.

Diamond

These are high performance skis and snowboards with the latest technology, and are suitable for the most experienced skiers.
