At the foot of the Arlberg Pass lies St. Anton am Arlberg, a vibrant village with international appeal. Situated at around 1300 meters above sea level, it’s one of Austria’s oldest and most renowned winter sports destinations. The Arlberg ski area is often referred to as the snow capital of the Alps. It encompasses the famous villages of Lech, Oberlech, Zürs, Stuben, St. Christoph, St. Anton and Flirsch. This fantastic ski region is considered the hotspot for the European jet set, several royal families, and true ski enthusiasts. In the snow-sure Arlberg region, you’ll find not only challenging pistes and ski routes, but also luxurious, charming ski villages and a lively après-ski scene. St. Anton is also known as one of the best freeride destinations in the Alps, with countless off-piste possibilities around the Valluga. Many visitors specifically search for freeride St. Anton, snowboarding St. Anton and Arlberg ski routes — and for good reason. The area offers incredible variety and deep powder snow after every fresh snowfall. What will be your favorite spot?
Of course, you come to St. Anton am Arlberg first and foremost to ski or snowboard. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced winter sports fan, you’ll find endless possibilities for unforgettable days in the snow. The St. Anton ski area consists of Galzig, Rendl and Valluga — all known for their breathtaking and challenging runs. This impressive region is particularly suitable for advanced skiers, with plenty of steep and exciting pistes that get your adrenaline flowing. St. Anton also offers excellent ski schools for both children and adults. Conveniently, St. Anton is very easy to reach by train. The popular Nightjet to Austria even stops directly in St. Anton, allowing you to step off the train refreshed and ready to hit the slopes. After a long day in the snow, it’s extra wonderful to return “home” to one of the many accommodations in St. Anton am Arlberg. Whether you’re looking for a simple guesthouse just outside the (partially car-free) center, a luxurious hotel in the bustling heart of the village, or a chalet equipped with every comfort — the choice is yours. Sunweb also offers a wide range of last-minute options. Time to pack your bags! When will you carve down the slopes?
Get your skis ready, because snow is guaranteed in St. Anton am Arlberg. The conditions are fantastic for true winter sports lovers — especially when the sun shows its best side! Another fun experience: take a ride in a snowcat (pistenbully) to a mountain-top restaurant. If you’re interested in the history of skiing, be sure to visit the museum in the Arlberg Kandahar House.
