Seis am Schlern

Seis am Schlern, or Siusi allo Sciliar in Italian, is a beautiful, picturesque village. This traditional village is situated at an altitude of no less than 1,000 meters and is a perfect base for a winter sports holiday in Italy. From Seis, the Seiser Alm Bahn departs for Seiser Alm/Compatsch. Here you will find a wonderful ski area with a wide variety of slopes. Other villages such as Tiers, Kastelruth, Völs am Schlern, and Ortisei can be reached by ski bus.

Map

Seiser Alm

The Seiser Alm ski area – also known as Alpe di Siusi – is located in the heart of South Tyrol and is the largest alpine meadow in Europe. Here, you ski across a unique, sunny plateau surrounded by the impressive peaks of the Dolomites. With around 60 kilometres of slopes and one of the best snowparks in South Tyrol, it’s an ideal destination for families and beginner skiers.

The wide, well-organised slopes mainly consist of blue and easy red runs, allowing you to enjoy relaxed and comfortable skiing. Looking for more of a challenge? The slopes of Val Gardena are within easy reach, offering a great extension for those who want to cover more kilometres and experience greater variety. From Seiser Alm, you can easily access this larger ski area and explore highlights such as the famous Sella Ronda.

Seiser Alm can be reached from Seis am Schlern in about 15 minutes by gondola. Once at the top, you’ll not only find perfectly prepared slopes, but also breathtaking views of the surrounding Dolomites.  In addition, the area is part of the Dolomiti Superski network, giving you access to one of the largest ski areas in the world.

There is also plenty to experience off the slopes. With around 80 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and approximately 30 kilometres of winter hiking routes, the area is perfect if you enjoy variety during your holiday.  Go snowshoeing, for example, or explore the winter landscape during an atmospheric horse-drawn sleigh ride — a relaxing way to discover the beauty of this special region.
