Chaberton Lodge is located in the lovely village of Sauze d'Oulx, at an altitude of 1500m. Close to the centre and within walking distance of the ski lift, the lift can also be reached by the ski bus. The hotel rooms offer many comforts, and you can easily relax. Wood and stone have been used, which ensures a cosy Alpine-style interior.

Sauze d'Oulx

Sauze d'Oulx has 400 km of piste and is a stylish resort with plenty of red runs. Most of these runs are on the sunny side of the village. The red runs are suitable for intermediate skiers and there are blue runs for the beginners. If you are looking for a challenge, you can head to the connected slopes of Sestriere Mountain Motta and Mount Sises where you will find black runs. There are some wonderful mountain après-Ski bars which you can enjoy the sunshine before heading back to the town, at your own pace.

The ski area is also known as the "Milky Way” and the Winter Olympics were held here in 2006. Traveling by car:

The national roads are well passable. Pas Piccolo San Bernardo is closed throughout the winter season (November to June).

Keep in mind that the highways require a toll. If you travel via the Austrian motorways, you must be in possession of a toll sticker. For some motorways, tunnels and roads in Austria there is no vignette requirement, but a separate toll must be paid, such as the A13 from Innsbruck-Süd to the Italian border.

There is no general obligation in Italy for winter tyres. Winter equipment (chains or winter tyres) may be mandatory on mountain roads. This is indicated with a traffic sign. Not using winter tires in winter conditions can lead to (joint) liability in the event of accidents and also have criminal consequences. In Austria and Germany, winter tires are required in winter conditions.

In case of breakdown or an accident, it is mandatory that all road users wear a reflective vest.

If you travel via France:

Please note: in some cities it is mandatory to have an environmental sticker from 1 July 2017. If you drive over the Paris ring road, the Boulevard Périphérique, you will also need an environmental sticker in many cases. The vignette can not be obtained along the way, but can only be ordered online. The French police advise to print out the application form and the confirmation and to take it with you if the vignette is not delivered in time by post. Food and drink:

Italy is known for pizzas, pastas and risottos. It is not recommended to drink tap water.

 

Tips:

Opening hours:

In general, the shops are closed between 13.00 and 16.00. This is the siesta. After 16.00 hours the shops will open again until about 19.00 hours.

In Italy, a ski helmet is mandatory for children up to and including 14 years of age. A ski helmet is recommended for adults. In a ski class, wearing a helmet is often required.

Lift pass, lessons and ski/board hire

A Via Lattea Italia lift pass is included in the tour price.

You can see the surcharges and discounts for, for example, extending your lift pass or no lift pass in step 1 (preferences) of the booking process. Discounts:
The lift pass for children born after 31/12/2004. Children boren between 01-01-2013 and 01/01/2015, and seniors born before 01-01-1947, will get a discount on the lift pass. You will be able to see the discounts in the calculated fares in step 3 of the booking process. If you are entitled to a discount you will need to show a valid ID upon collecting the lift pass.
Deposit:
You will receive a "hands-free" lift pass. At the destination you will need to pay €5,- to obtain the lift pass. You will be refunded this amount if/when you return the lift pass.Above mentioned discounts and deposits are only valid when booking with Sunweb. At the destination other rates may apply.

Helmets are not included in the ski/snowboard equipment hire.

For children from 3 - 7 years old, it is mandatory to wear a helmet. You can purchase one yourself or rent one onsite.

This equipment is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The equipment is particularly manoeuvrable, so it makes turning and braking easy. Parallel skiing is also possible with these skis.

Silver

This is ideal equipment for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. The equipment is manoeuvrable and suitable for cutting corners sharply. Even at high speeds, these skis provide great performance.

Gold

These skis and snowboards are made of high-quality material and are perfect for experienced skiers. They can also be used by skiers who have mastered parallel skiing. This comfortable equipment is suitable for all track types and snow conditions.

Diamond

These are high performance skis and snowboards with the latest technology and are suitable for the most experienced skiers.
