On a plateau high above Pichl, 8 km from Schladming you'll find the charming Hotel Gut Raunerhof. This cosy hotel offers you a breath-taking view over the Enns Valley, and is also another next to the ski lift. In morning after breakfast you can be one of the first to tackle the freshly powdered snow. Your room is spacious and bright and features a modern bathroom.
After an active day on the slopes, indulge yourself in the sauna or pamper your tired muscles in the infrared cabin. Later on enjoy a delicious meal in the hotel restaurant. If you still have energy after this head to the cosy parlour for a drink!
Pichl is a cosy picturesque village which lies between Schladming and Mandling. The village is a collection of farmhouses scattered throughout the valley. This part of the valley still has a traditional and rustic character and is very serene. There is ample parking space at the bottom of the lift station and also several restaurants and shops. Opposite the campground, in the village, you will be able to find several good restaurants that are relatively inexpensive. Although there are several bars and pubs, this quiet village does not offer many apres-ski possibilities.
The “house mountain” of Pichl is the Reiteralm, which is about a kilometre from Pichl. Reiteralm is part of the Schladming-Dachstein Ski Area. The Reiteralm mountain is the perfect entrance to this 4 mountain ski region where skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the 167Km of prepared slopes and lift systems.
Pichl is very popular with families due to its affordable prices and great range of slopes. The red slopes of the Reiteralm and the Hochwurzen are wide and undulating, making it suitable for less experienced skiers. There is also good access to alternative ski resorts such as Schladming and Dachstein which is part of the even greater ski region of Ski Amadé.
This modern resort has nine mountains with three of them above 2000m altitude. Four of the nine mountains in this area are connected by connecting lifts: Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm. These links makes it extremely easy to take day trips to other areas. Schladming-Dachstein offers excellent opportunities for advanced skiers. One example in the Planai, which offers very fast and steep slopes.
Families can enjoy the excellent Galsterbergalm, Fageralm, Stoderzinken and on the other side of the Ennstal, Ramsau am Dachstein. In Ramsau cross-country skiers and hikers will also enjoy themselves with a range of different tracks.
Schladming-Dachstein is really a paradise for skiers. There is the longest descent in the alps here, as well as the Hochwurzen Playground for free style skiers and snow boarders.
