Skiing in Val d'Isère

General information

Val d’Isere is one of France’s most well known ski resorts. What started as a small, traditional farm village, it has since evolved into a vibrant winter paradise. Unlike many other modern resorts, the architecture here still has a typical ‘Savoy’ style.

Skiing in Val d’Isere

Val d’Isere is part of the massive Espace Killy ski region. This area also includes the famous resort of Tignes, and has over 300km of ski slopes. It is particularly suited for intermediate skier/snowboards, with around 150km of blue slopes. The top point of this ski area is at approximately 3456m, which makes it one of the highest in all of the Alps. It also has 2 glaciers, making it one of the most snow sure resorts in all of France.

For cross country skiers there are plenty of different tracks to explore, especially along the peaks bordering Italy. Snowboarders will thorough enjoy the huge 36,000m² fun park.

The Resort

After skiing there is always something to see and do in Val d’Isere. Famous for its pumping après-ski, bars such as Café Face and Moris Pub popular choices. For dinner there is an array of fantastic restaurants, however be sure to try Le Samovar and Le Taverne.

There are plenty of options for non skiers here, including a cinema, a snow go- kart track and three indoor sports centres.  Sunweb has a great assortment of accommodation choices for skiing in Val d’Isere.
