General information

Like many French ski villages, Samoëns consists of two areas. The first is the authentic, traditional village that has many old buildings and chalets. The second is Samoëns 1600, which is located at a higher altitude and has more modern hotels and apartments. Samoëns 1600 also has better access to the ski lifts. The authentic village is the only ski holiday destination that has the official status of "Monument Historique".
