Skiing in Sölden

A lively ski resort with a welcoming atmosphere

Sölden is the most famous winter sports resort in the Ötztal Valley. Besides its extensive and snow-sure ski area, the resort is also renowned for its vibrant après-ski scene. Sölden regularly hosts international skiing and snowboarding events, and concerts are often part of the programme. From the village, you can take the Ötztaler Gletscherbahn and a chairlift up to the summit of the Gaislachkogel, which reaches an impressive altitude of 3,058 metres.

Sölden is located in the heart of the Ötztal Valley and surrounded by impressive mountain peaks. Its central location makes it an ideal base for a winter sports holiday. More than just skiing

At the summit of the Gaislachkogl, you'll find the uniquely designed high-altitude gourmet restaurant Ice Q, as well as 007 Elements. This unique exhibition offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of the James Bond film Spectre, which was filmed in Sölden. Best of all, admission is free with a ski pass valid for six days or more.

Together, Sölden and Hochsölden form an impressive ski area. Thanks to the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers, the region is renowned for its excellent snow reliability, offering skiing conditions from autumn through to spring. It is also the only ski area in Austria with three peaks above 3,000 metres that are accessible by lift, known as the "BIG 3". Most of the area's 130 kilometres of slopes are located around Sölden. With convenient lift connections and easy access to different parts of the ski area, there are plenty of opportunities for both beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts.
