FAQ

What do I need to travel to Italy?

Warning! If you do not meet the entry requirements your visit will be denied!

(!) All adult UK visitors must present a certificate confirming their full vaccination to be exempt from quarantine upon arrival!

To understand the risks in a country, including the latest COVID restrictions (including for entry), always double check the FCDO Travel Advice for Italy.

When entering Italy, you must present a vaccination certificate which confirms full vaccination. If you cannot provide a proof of vaccination, you will need to self-isolate upon arrival in Italy for 5 days, so you will not be able to go on holiday. There are no alternatives at this point.

All visitors must have (all):
1. Vaccination certificate
2. Negative COVID-19 test result (from 6 years and older)
2. Passenger Locator form

1. Vaccination certificate
If you provide proof of vaccination you do not have to self-isolate upon entry.
- You need a vaccination certificate confirming that you have received the full COVID-19 vaccination dosage. Attention! From 15 December 2021 a vaccination certificate will be valid for 9 months after the second dose!
- Recovery certificates are not accepted (!)
- You also need to show a negative test result (PCR- or antigentest)

2. Negative COVID-19 test result
- PCR or antigen test
- Required for all visitors of 6 years and older
- Test must be taken within 48 hours prior to entering Italy

3. Passenger Locator Form
Before travelling to Italy, all passengers must complete an online digital form. This will generate a QR code, which should be presented to your travel provider and Border Police. If requested, a paper form can be completed if you do not have an electronic device.
- All passengers wishing to enter Italy, via all means of transportation, will be required to complete the digital PLF, prior to entering the country.
- One form must be completed for each adult passenger; accompanied minors can be registered on the form of the accompanying adult. In the case of unaccompanied minors, the PLF must be completed by the parent or legal guardian before departure

NHS COVID Pass
Italy will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record at the border. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.
More details on how to demonstrate your COVID-19 status you can find here.

Entry rules for children
Children under 18 will not be required to quarantine if they are travelling with a fully vaccinated parent and (for those over the age of 6) have a negative test.
Children under the age of 6 are exempt from testing.
