FAQ

What do I need to travel to France?

Warning! If you do not meet the entry requirements your visit will be denied!

(!) All adult UK visitors must present a certificate confirming their full vaccination to be exempt from quarantine upon arrival!

From 18 July, fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to present evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result before travelling. To understand the risks in a country, including the latest COVID restrictions (including for entry), always double check the FCDO Travel Advice for France.

When entering France, you must present a proof of vaccination certificate which confirms full vaccination. If you cannot provide a proof of vaccination, you will need to self-isolate upon arrival in France for 7 days, so you will not be able to go on holiday. There are no alternatives at this point.

Attention! Did you book a holiday to France including flights? Then you will fly to Geneva. Please note you will also need to meet the requirements of Switzerland. You can find more information in our checklist for Switzerland.

All visitors must have:

1. Vaccination certificate
2. A completed ‘sworn statement’

1. Vaccination certificate
- Single shot vaccines (e.g. Johnson & Johnson)
  • You need a vaccination certificate confirming that you have received the full COVID-19 vaccination dosage
  • The certificate must show that you received the dosage of the vaccine more than 4 weeks ago
  • Vaccines for people who have had a history of COVID-19 must show that they have had their (1) injection at least 7 days ago
- Double shot vaccines (e.g. AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer)
  • You need a vaccination certificate confirming that you have received the full COVID-19 vaccination dosage
  • The certificate must show that you received the last dosage of the vaccine more than 7 days ago
Are you travelling with children? Please find more information below.

2. A completed ‘sworn statement’
All visitors must complete a ‘sworn statement’ attesting to the absence of symptoms of COVID-19 infection and contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Note: if you booked a holiday to France including flights to Geneva you will also need to fill in the Passenger Locator Form for Switzerland. Check the following FAQ for more information.

Negative COVID test
If you are fully vaccinated and have the certificate you do not need to take an extra test indicating a negative test result anymore. Children over 12 who are not fully vaccinated will need a negative COVID-test. Read more about this below in the children section.

NHS COVID Pass
France will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record at the border. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.
More details on how to demonstrate your COVID-19 status you can find here.

Entry rules for children
Children aged 11 years old or younger do not need to present a negative test result to travel.
Children aged 12 years old or over who are not fully vaccinated and travelling with a fully vaccinated adult are required to present a negative test result (PCR or antigen). However, they do not need to provide an essential reason for travel, nor do they need to self-isolate on arrival. Note: the PCR- or antigentest must not be older then 24 hours!
