Why is Sunweb Group doing this?

Nowadays, everyone realises that we must move towards a carbon-neutral world. Every time you go on a holiday, take a flight, stay at a hotel or ride a bus, carbon emissions are generated. It’s in our company values to constantly try to improve our social, economic and environmental impact, in everything we do. As a travel company, we believe it’s our responsibility to minimise our carbon footprint. In our industry, there are many ways to minimise that footprint, but at this moment certain carbon emissions are unavoidable, no matter what. So, if we want to contribute to carbon neutrality, offsetting the carbon emissions we can’t reduce is currently the only way to make a real impact. We recognise that this is not the silver bullet solution to climate change. However, it is an industry-leading step towards tackling the biggest environmental impact of our holidays. We truly believe we can have an impact if we think big and offer carbon offset standard for all of our holidays and all of our customers - over one million in total. As Sunweb Group, we can use our influence as a leading travel company to initiate sustainable change in the travel sector and encourage our travel partners and other travel companies to also take responsibility for their carbon emissions. Our carbon offset programme is the vital first step of many to make the world a better place.
